Our Trip To McCall

The kids have had their fall break for two weeks now. When they got out of school we decided it would be fun to go somewhere for a little vacation. We decided on McCall. We had never been there before and found a cheap cabin to rent for four nights. We got up to McCall a little early so our cabin wasn't ready for us yet. The Octoberfest was going on. We walked around, but it really wasn't that exciting. So we went off to Subway for food. Since we still hadn't killed enough time we drove around Payette lake. It is so pretty up there. We got out on the side of the road and took these pictures of the kids. Can you tell it was pretty chilly?

So it finally gets to be time to go into our cabin. We unload the car and get all situated. The cabin was really nice and cozy. Perfect for us. There was lots of movies and games for entertainment. Though we really didn't watch much TV...but it was nice to have the option. We didn't do much for the rest of the first evening. Scott and Scottie went into town to attend the Priesthood session of conference. When they came back we had a fire and had hot chocolate.

Emma up in the loft area where Scott and Josh slept.

It was cold and rainy when we got up to McCall and for the rest of the night. So what usually happens when the temperature drops through the night...yep snow. This is what we woke up to...

We watched the Sunday morning session of conference and then ate lunch. Then it was time to decide what to do for the afternoon. Do you think a little snow would stop Scott from wanting to hike...of course not! There really wasn't a lot of snow and it really wasn't too bad trekking through it...honest! Especially since we only had one pair of tennis shoes each.

Caleb found a tree that was the same height as him. So of course we dubbed it the Caleb tree. So after this one Caleb wanted a picture beside every 'Caleb' tree...unfortunately he didn't get his wish...I know, I know, mean mom.

Joshua and Caleb decided to eat some snow. It's totally gross to me. But hey, if it's purely white what can be the harm? I'm sure I ate my fair share of snow when I was a kid.

So we go back to the cabin after our little adventure and Scott starts a fire. We of course have to have hot chocolate to warm up too.

Joshua gathering pine cones to start the fire with.

Our cozy cabin and Scott swinging on the swing.

Caleb throwing snowballs.

The next day we decided to go down to the lake dock to walk around. It was really pretty down there.

Emma finding rocks.

Walking along the beach.

Then we decide to go to Camp Morrison. This is the scout camp that Scottie came to over the summer. Scott thought it would be fun for Scottie to show us all around at the different places he did stuff.

The scouts made this.

Caleb hangin around.

Hanging out at the waterfront. This is where Scottie did his polar bear swim and his canoeing merit badge.

Outside the gates.

That night we decided to have a bonfire and roast hotdogs and have smores....so yummy!

The next day Scott wanted to take Scottie and Joshua on a big hike. They decided on an eight mile hike. I stayed at the cabin with Emma and Caleb. We went outside and played horseshoes and Emma and Caleb played soccer on the volleyball court. Then they swang on the swings. We went inside after a while and watched a movie.

Our last night at the cabin. We sat around and played cards and had hot chocolate. It was lots of fun.

We cleaned up the cabin and then headed out. Before we left Scott wanted to take us up to the place where he and the boys had hiked the day before. This valley is so beautiful!

We ended up at this pretty overlook of McCall and Payette Lake. It was really gorgeous up there! Scott and I drove up to the overlook while the rest of the family hiked up.

Emma and dad making their way up.

We packed a lunch to eat while we were up there.
